Aims

Microsystems technology has been supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF) since 1990. The ongoing framework programme "Microsystems" which began consecutively in 2003 after the termination of the support concept “"Mikrosystemtechnik 2000+ " is focussing on the following goals:

• improvement of the crosslinking between R&D institutions, MST-manufacturers and MST-users with special consideration of conditions and interests of medium-sized companies
• improvement of the technological and structural basis for the development- and fabrication-services for the efficient and economic production of MST products and components
• advancement of the modular microsystems technology to practical and field-tested interfaces and standards
• protection of future technological options of system integration by timely seizing emerging single techniques
• further arrangement of the possibilities in education and professional training in MST
• facilitation of innovation financing in the area of the MST and their applications

The exact layout of the tasks in focus as well as the required detailed governmental measures are not determined ex ante for the entire duration of the framework programme.
